UNION COUNTY – The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has confirmed two additional wolf depredations in Union County for December 2024.
The first depredation was initially investigated on December 17 and occurred below the Thief Valley Reservoir on a 1000-acre private land pasture. The event resulted in 2 injured adult cows, with the Fraizer Mountain Pack being confirmed responsible. It is estimated that the depredation occurred around December 7, 2024. Note that the depredation was investigated on both December 17 and 23, though it is classified by ODFW as a single event.
The second depredation was initially investigated on December 29 and occurred in the Dry Creek area on a 6-acre private land pasture. The event resulted in 2 dead adult sheep, with the Finley Ridge Pack being confirmed responsible. It is estimated that the depredation occurred around 12 hours prior to the initial investigation.
