UNION COUNTY – Even on the dry side, Oregon is still a state full of trees, which means there’s always a need for skilled forestry workers. Recently, a collective of public and private organizations put on a special event to give local kids an on the ground look at logging work.
Earlier this week, the Oregon Department of Forestry La Grande Office, in collaboration Oregon Women in Timber, Manulife, Boise Cascade, Woodgrain, and Hagerdon Logging, hosted 50 high school students form across Union County at a logging job tour near Elgin as part the annual Jobs in the Woods Day. As written by ODF Northeast Oregon in a recent post:
“Special thanks to our amazing partners who took time out of their days to show the next generation where we get to work and what we do.”
