Celebrating Life
Robert (Rob) Gail Moore, of Elgin, died November 6, 2023, at his home, surrounded by family. He had battled cancer for nearly a year. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Elgin Stampede Hall on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 1:00pm.
Rob was born at Wallowa Memorial Hospital on August 16, 1969, to Denny and Sharon (Hook) Moore. He grew up in Elgin, attending Elgin Schools, where he participated in football, wrestling, baseball, and rodeo. His passion for rodeo extended well beyond high school.
In 2003, he married the sweetheart of his life, Lara Scoubes Moore, and they have lived in Elgin since their marriage. Rob worked for Eastern Oregon Rental, Pioneer West, Legacy Dodge, and Legacy Ford. Rob genuinely liked people and met some great ones during his working life.
Rob spent 35 years with the Elgin Stampeders, serving as both an officer and director during those years. Rodeo was a passion for him, and he was eventually elected to the Columbia River Circuit Rodeo Board, where he served for nearly four years, before he was diagnosed with cancer. Besides professional rodeo, Rob also spent a significant amount of time involved in youth rodeo.
Rob’s family was the love of his life. He is survived by his parents, Denny and his wife Karen; Sharon and her husband, Donnie; his spouse, Lara; his sons and daughters- in-law, Dillan and Allison Moore of La Grande, Dalton and Ashley Moore of Colville, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Callie and Charlie Hill of Klamath Falls, and daughter; Kennedy, of Elgin; grandchildren Tyler, Raynee, Waylon and Colt.
He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Verna “Mom” Moore; grandparents, Vivian and Gene Hook, and Royce and Hazel Moore, and sister-in-law, Ellie Scoubes Peterson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Columbia River Circuit Crisis Fund, 80781 N. Ott Rd. Hermiston, Or 97838, or the Elgin Stampede Playdays, PO Box 1139, Elgin, 97827. Obituary courtesy of Loveland Funeral Chapel.
