Paul Victor Barnett, age 88, of Long Creek passed away on October 2, 2023, with his loving family by his side. A Memorial Mass will be held October 24, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in John Day.

Paul was born in Portland, Oregon on January 20, 1935, to William and Esther (Logan) Barnett. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1953.

Paul married Leslie Ruth Steiman in Ione, Oregon on December 12, 1977. Paul had his pilot’s license in his younger years and was very proud of flying small planes.

 He spent many years in real estate, the building and construction industry, and ran heavy equipment. He also worked for Portland Stages, Portland Gresham Ford, and for the last twenty years, he and his wife Leslie have owned and operated the Long Creek Lodge in Long Creek, Oregon.

Paul loved being in the woods, hunting, fishing, cutting, and delivering firewood. He enjoyed PBR rodeos and watching UFC fights. He was an NRA and Rocky Mt. Elk Foundation member and attended St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church.

Paul leaves us with one of his favorite Scriptures: John 14:26 The Advocate, The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things.

He is survived by his loving wife, Leslie Barnett of Long Creek, OR; daughter, Lineah Gibson of Long Creek, OR; daughter, Delynn Della Rosa-Bady of Sandy, OR; granddaughter, Abriel Della Rosa of Sandy, OR; grandsons, Anthony and Austin Della Rosa of Gresham, OR; and one great-granddaughter, Leila Della Rosa of Gresham, OR.
