Celebrating Life

Mary McAdams, 95, of Union, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at her residence. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Union Baptist Church on Monday, November 27, 2023 at 10:00am. Casual dress is preferred by the family.

Mary was born on August 30, 1928, in Wichita Falls, Texas to William and Marie (Buss) Kershner. In 1947, she graduated High School, from Our Lady of Victory Academy, Ft. Worth, TX. During her high school years, she worked at the soda fountain in the Woolworth Department Store. When she completed High School, the only man she ever loved, Henry (H0) Owen Mc Adams asked her to marry and she said “Yes”. They then started their life together as Man and Wife on September 12, 1947. They had 4 children, Mary Elaine, Henry, Judy and Nancy. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. In their years together Mom found herself being a Pastor’s wife, a farmer girl, which was quite a stretch for this city gal, and a loving mother. The most important pursuit of her life was to love Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior and share Him with her family and friends. Part of that was accomplished while her and Dad did mission work for (MAPS) Missions Abroad Placement Service. Mom was a member of the Assembly of God church, then, after moving to Union, became a member of the Union Baptist Church. Mom loved to sing, she also loved flowers and enjoyed having a beautiful yard. Her other hobbies were sewing, oil painting, embroidering, and loving up on her grandchildren. Speaking of grandchildren, they seem to all pick different names for her, among them Gram, Grammie, Grammie Bear, Grandma, and others I don’t remember, the one other I do is the funniest. For some-time there were a couple grandkids that would call her “Grandma without”. When she could take it no longer, she finally asked “why do they call me that”? When told it was because she was the Grandma without a dog, she was more than OK with that!

Mary is survived by her children and spouses, Thomas Schafer, Henry Mc Adams, David and Judy Daniels, Pat and Nancy Bruce; sister, Gertrude Damico, many grandchildren, great grands, and even great-great grands. She was preceded in death by 2 brothers at their birth; sister, Betty Sue; brother, Christopher Kershner; daughter, Elaine; granddaughter, Tami Daniels, and Loving Husband HO Mc Adams.
