Celebrating Life
Lawson Ray Denny, Sr., age 99, passed away on December 23, 2024. He was born in Glendale, Arizona on November 10, 1925. Lawson was the eighth of ten children born to Grace and Arthur Denny. He grew up primarily in Colorado and Idaho. He graduated from high school in Burley, Idaho. Lawson joined the Army Air Guard in February 1944 and was sent overseas to Tinian in 1945. He was a B29 Radio Operator Mechanic and was overseas for eight months until World War II ended.
Lawson was married to Lenore Eaton on February 27, 1949. They were married for 70 years. Lawson and Lenore were members of the Wallowa Church of Christ. Lawson enjoyed singing, farming, snowmobiling, traveling and spending time with family. He also enjoyed reading with the students at Stella Mayfield Elementary School.
Lawson is survived by one sister, Shirley, and three children, Linda, Janice, and Lawson Ray, Jr. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lenore, in 2019.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for May 2025. An exact date will be announced in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to “Mr. Denny’s Memorial Storybook Fund” at a Community Bank branch. Donations will be used to purchase reading books for Stella Mayfield Elementary School students.
