Gerald “Gerry” Willard Nanegos, 72 of Prairie City, Oregon died on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Blue Mountain Hospital in John Day, Oregon. Gerry was born in Pendleton, Oregon on April 14, 1951, to Willard Gerald Nanegos and Margaret White. Gerry was raised at Howtmi’ (McKay Creek) by Mr. & Mrs. Jesse Jones, Sr., he attended Pilot Rock High School, where he excelled in intramural sports. Gerry was well known for his rodeo skills, he participated in rodeo events all over the northwest including the Pendleton Round-Up as a showstopper, in the Indian Relay and Wild Horse Racing. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents and 8 of his siblings. He is survived by his sister Leona and many cousins, nieces & nephews. Services will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at the Tutuilla Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the Tutuilla Cemetery. Obituary courtesy of Burns Mortuary of Pendleton.
