Floyd Vernon Spaur Sr., 81, passed away peacefully at his home in Wallowa, Oregon, on November 11, 2023. Born on July 20, 1942, in Anaconda, Montana, he was the child of Floyd Earl Spaur and Carol Elizabeth Barber.

He married the love of his life Martha Jean Nelson in 1960. Vern loved spending time with his family and loved having his grandkids and great-grandkids come by and visit. He could often be found tinkering with a project he had in his shop. Before making Wallowa County his home, he owned a construction business, where his son Vernie and son-in-law Leonard worked alongside him. Their work included septic installations and logging road construction. Vern enjoyed many adventures traveling with his wife and often spent the colder months exploring the Arizona desert. The Creating Memories for Disabled Children organization was very dear to him. Vern installed one of the first hydroelectric plants in the valley, before adding a second to help offset the SPS auto shop’s electricity needs.
