With profound sadness, but unwavering faith in God’s promise, we announce the passing of Christie Ann Huston, who went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2026, at the age of 48.

Christie was born on April 20, 1978, to Charles and Michelle Thom. She graduated from Canby High School and attended Linn-Benton Community College, completing her studies in the fall of 1999. That same year, Christie met the love of her life, Curtis Huston. What began as a chance meeting blossomed into a remarkable 27-year love story built on friendship, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Christie and Curt married in 2006, spending the next two decades building a beautiful life filled with cherished memories. This year, they celebrated their twentieth wedding anniversary, a milestone reflecting their enduring bond.

In 2017, Christie and Curt moved to Wallowa County, the place they proudly called their forever home. There, Christie embraced life with her whole heart. She was known for her infectious enthusiasm and her favorite phrase, “I’m living my best life!” For Christie, those words were more than a saying – they were the way she lived every day.

To know Christie was to know someone who lived boldly, loved deeply, and found joy in every moment. She possessed a rare gift for making others feel seen and valued. Her smile could light up a room, her laughter was contagious, and her energy was impossible to ignore. She never met a stranger and had an extraordinary ability to turn friends into family.

Although Christie and Curt did not have children of their own, her heart overflowed for the youth of Wallowa County. She became a mentor, encourager, second mom, and steadfast supporter to countless young people throughout the community. Whether she was cheering from the stands at a sporting event, celebrating a hard-earned accomplishment, or offering guidance during difficult times, Christie made every child feel important. The young lives she touched stand as one of her greatest legacies.

Christie’s generosity extended far beyond her inner circle. She celebrated the successes of others as if they were her own and found genuine joy in lifting people up. Her compassion and endless encouragement left a lasting mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. She simply loved, not with pieces, but with her whole heart.

Though Christie was taken from this world far too soon, she truly lived a life full of purpose. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Christie’s love created a family of the heart. She leaves behind her family, her beloved pea pods, and a village of children who proudly called her Auntie.

Christie is survived by her devoted husband, Curtis Huston; her parents, Charles and Michelle Thom; her brother, Greg Thom, and his sons, Connor and Christopher; her godsons, Kylar and Rylan McQuead; her cherished Shelton family; and countless friends whose lives were forever changed by her kindness.

Her family and friends find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace with the Lord she loved so deeply. Though our hearts are broken, we will forever carry Christie’s spirit with us. We will remember her radiant smile, her boundless optimism, and her constant reminder to embrace each day fully. If Christie taught us anything, it was to show up for others, find joy in every day, and never be afraid to say, “I’m living my best life.”

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 12, 2026, at the Ice Creek Shelter in Wallowa Lake State Park. All who knew and loved Christie are invited to join her family and friends in celebrating a life lived beautifully and with extraordinary love.
