TOUCHET – The Oasis Fire that started near the railroad tracks below the Cameo Heights Mansion in Touchet Monday afternoon reached 100 percent containment later that night. All evacuation orders have since been lifted.
Walla Walla County Fire District Number Six Chief Rusty Waite said a strike team from Yakima would complete mopping up this afternoon (Tuesday). State fire assistance, which included air resources, was mobilized at 5 p.m. Monday following Waite’s request.
The fire burned an estimated 4,252 acres.
Waite said no structures were lost, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
