(Message from Nyssa School District Superintendent Ryan Hawkins)
“I want to take a moment to address some concerns that are circulating regarding immigration enforcement and how it might impact our schools. Please know that the Nyssa School District remains fully committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all students and families. Your child’s safety and education are our top priorities. Under Oregon’s sanctuary state laws, immigration enforcement is not allowed in schools and were not present at any time during school. We are a place of learning and support, and our doors remain open to every child in our community. We are in continuous conversations with all local and state officials to provide factual information and quality service to our students and families. If you have any questions reach out to me at rhawkins@nyssasd.org.”
