Nyssa Police share prevention message during Suicide Awareness Month

NYSSA — During Suicide Awareness Month, police with the City of Nyssa are encouraging community members to speak up, listen, and be there for others. Read NPD’s message to the community below:

Sometimes the most important thing we can do is simply speak, listen, and be there.
You never know what someone beside you may be carrying. A friend. A family member. A coworker. A neighbor. Sometimes even the person who seems to have everything together may be struggling in ways we cannot see.
This September, the Nyssa Police Department encourages our community to:
SPEAK UP — It’s okay to say, “I’m not okay.” It’s okay to ask someone if they are.
LISTEN — You don’t have to have all the answers. Sometimes being willing to listen without judgment is exactly what someone needs.
BE THERE — Check in. Make the call. Send the text. Sit with someone. Help connect them with support.
But behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a community.
The Nyssa Police Department wants our community to know that we care, we are here, and we want to help connect people with the resources they need.
