Nyssa Police issue reminders around city ordinances

NYSSA — The Nyssa Police Department recently issued a few reminders for residents regarding city ordinances, enforcement, and what is expected of the public. Find the list of ordinances detailed below from the NPD:

  • Health, Sanitation and Environment (4.1.4)
    • Weeds/Grass- Lets keep our yards tidy and cleaned up!
    • Debris- Piles of junk and rubbish need to be cleared from yards and alleyways.
    • Machinery/Tools- Keep these things in an enclosed space to keep people safe.
    • With the weather being nicer lots of people are outside but let’s keep quiet between the hours of 10pm-7am.
    • Failure to maintain could result in fines and abatement after given notice.
  • Motor Vehicles and Traffic (5.3.7/5.3.5)
    • Cars should not be parked in an alleyway for more than 30 minutes.
    • Cars should not be parked on a public street to be posted for sale, repairing, advertising, selling merchandise, storage or junked exceeding 72 hours, must be parked in the direction of lawful traffic, must be licensed and registered.
    • If failure to comply with this, cars are subject to towing and fines.
  • Police and Public Safety- Animal Control (6.2.3)
    • Dogs need to be licensed and registered at City Hall and have proof of rabies vaccination. Three or more dogs require a special license.
    • License Fee: $30.00
    • Dogs should always be on a leash when not on your private property.
    • If a dog is running at large and taken to a shelter there will be a release fee.
      • Release Fee: With license is $70.00
      • No license is $80.00 plus license of $30.00
      • All of the above subject to a presumptive fine of $265.00
