Nyssa firefighters take part in vehicle extrication training

NYSSA —  Firefighters with Nyssa Fire Department recently underwent a vehicle extrication training. Department officials report that a vehicle was donated and used for the training. Crew members practiced the process of safely removing a trapped person from a vehicle following a crash or other emergency.

Officials stated, “Training like this helps firefighters maintain the skills needed to perform these rescues quickly and safely when real emergencies occur.” They explained, “Firefighters use specialized rescue tools, such as hydraulic cutters, spreaders, and stabilization equipment, to cut away parts of the vehicle, create access, and free occupants while minimizing the risk of further injury.”
