NYSSA – Never let it be said that Baker County’s fire departments aren’t well prepared and well equipped. The Nyssa Fire Department recently announced that it received a surplus 2001 fire engine from Baker City. This coincides with the Baker City Fire Department also receiving their own brand-new engine from Alterra Fire Group in Boise.
According to details posted by the Nyssa Fire Department, the new engine features a 1000-gallon tank and a pumping capacity of 1,250 gallons per minute. The new engine will greatly improve the station’s response capability, equipment redundancy, and give reprieve to the department’s venerable but aging 1991 fire engine. As written by the Nyssa Fire Department:
“This purchase allows us to allocate time to budget for a new fire engine. Furthermore, it ensures the City of Nyssa has a reserve/backup engine, Engine 402, in case of mechanical failures in our primary or secondary engines.”
The department would like to thank the local community, city council, and city manager for their support.
