Northern Baker Transportation Improvement Plan

BAKER CITY – The City of Baker City is working with the Northern Baker Transportation Improvement Plan to consider roadway improvement concepts on 10th Street, Hughes Lane and Cedar Street that meet the city’s evolving needs.  

According to the City of Baker City, “The Northern Baker Transportation Improvement Plan is a long-range plan that will deliver a community vision for three transportation corridors in order to foster sustainable economic growth and safe, equitable transportation choices:

10th Street from Hughes Lane to Broadway Street (US 30)

Cedar Street from Hughes Lane to Campbell Street

Hughes Lane from 10th Street to Cedar Street and Pocahontas Road from 10th Street to 17th Street/Chico Street

This area has seen an increase in people walking and biking, and the plan will seek to improve facilities, safety and connections for these users. The plan will also address traffic safety and flow and freight mobility.

The plan will identify a recommended concept design that addresses current deficiencies and meets the need of this important area of the city as we continue to grow and evolve.”

 The schedule according to the city is as follows: 

3rd week of January – Technical Advisory Committee Meeting
This meeting will include an overview of the project; reviewing and discussing the draft content and site analysis, the draft project vision, guiding principles and evaluation criteria.
4th week of January – Project Management Team Meeting
This meeting is to discuss topics emerging from context and site analysis and vision, guiding principles and evaluation criteria.

January 27, 2021 – OPEN HOUSE 6:00 – 7:00pm
The project team will present information and take questions and comments from the public.  The project will consider roadway improvement concepts on 10th Street, Hughes Lane and Cedar Street to increase safety and plan for sustainable economic growth.  The plan will consider concept designs that address current and future needs of these important roadways.
