Northeast Oregon nonprofits receive $58,000 in community grant funds

UNION & WALLOWA COUNTIES – The Oregon Community Foundation has announced the recipients of its 2026 spring grant programs. In total, 258 grants, worth nearly $5.2 million dollars combined, have been awarded across all of Oregon’s 36 counties. The majority of this money, around $4.77 million dollars, specifically came from the Community Grants program, offering general operating support for select organizations. As written by the Oregon Community Foundation:

“Nonprofits use the flexible grants where they matter most — on anything from stabilizing staffing, strengthening essential programs or maintaining the infrastructure that allows organizations to serve their communities. This spring’s awards will help nonprofits meet rising demand and support community-led solutions in both rural and urban areas.”

For Union and Wallowa Counties in particular, four local nonprofits made the recent list, totaling $58,000 dollars in grant funds. Local awardees for both counties include:

  • Cove Community Association, Cove: $8,000
  • Friends of the Children – Eastern Oregon, La Grande: $15,000
  • Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center, Enterprise: $15,000
  • Rural Engagement & Vitality Center, La Grande: $20,000
