North Powder under boil water advisory

NORTH POWDER — The City of North Powder is under another boil water notice following a pressure drop in the city’s water system last night. According to North Powder public works, the drop was caused by excessive draw from local firefighting tankers vehicles from multiple agencies refilling from the city’s water, which may have caused a fire hydrant value to be opened by accident for around two minutes.

Water samples are already in transit to DEQ for testing, with results expected to be released to the see un under 18 hours, as of time of writing. A public meeting is allegedly being planned by the U.S. Forest Service to further explain the cause of the issue, though a date has not yet been set.

As with previous notices, residents are reminded to boil water for around 1 minute and let it cool before using it for consumption, hygiene, cleaning, and food preparation.
