NORTH POWDER – Near the end of December of 2023, the City of North Powder announced that it had been awarded a $1,207,060 Community Development Block Grant to fund the construction of a new city library. Since then, planning work has continued, with the city now offering a tentative timeline for development and construction.
As of the latest newsletter, design development is expected to be ready for final approval near the end of November, with construction bidding set for the end of February 2025. Actual construction is, hopefully, set to begin in April of 2025 and conclude in mid-December.
Other updates include that the new library will likely be twice the size of the original, and that an open house is planned once a final design is selected. At the end of the update, the city optimistically wrote:
“The main goal is to have a welcoming and usable library that the community will be
proud of.”
