NORTH POWDER – In a recent newsletter, the city of North Powder announced that it had been awarded a Community Development Block Grant from Business Oregon worth $1,207,060. This funding will go toward the construction and final design work of a new public library.

Note that the library project is still in the early planning phases, with the city estimating at least a two-year timeline until construction is completed. Before construction can begin, the city will need to complete contract negotiations for the grant administrator, carry out an environmental review process of the construction site, and contract an engineering service to finish the design. As for the library design itself, North Powder tentatively wrote:

“Construction should include adding onto the south end of the City Hall building along with developing parking areas and sidewalks.”
