North 2nd Street Bridge, La Grande, open ahead of schedule

LA GRANDE – Work has concluded ahead of schedule on the North 2nd Street Bridge in La Grande. Originally scheduled for full day-time closures through July 15 as part of the plumbing connection for the Union County Fairgrounds Wastewater Project, La Grande Public Works reports that the needed work was completed on Friday, July 10.
As written in a memo by Mike Becker Construction:
“The Second Street bridge work has now been completed; the road is open, and all trenching has been paved. We will no longer need to close it. In addition to the patching at the 2nd Street bridge, we also patched the water crossing trench at the short road (2nd Street?) that accesses the Fair’s south parking lot, as well as the city’s lot.”
Residents should still expect heavy equipment in and around the fairgrounds as the final stages of the project continue.
