No single day event needed thanks to incinerator. Drop off your unused medications today

BAKER CITY – National Drug Take Back Day is this Saturday and law enforcement agencies from across the country will take some time to collect unwanted, unused and expired prescription medications for proper disposal.  This time around the Baker County Sheriff’s Office will not be participating in the event.  Thanks to a joint project between the Sheriff’s Office and the Baker City Police Department, they were able to purchase an incinerator that is used to dispose of not only prescription medications that are brought in, but also contraband.  

The Baker County Sheriff’s Office offers Drug Take Back Monday – Friday 8am to 5pm.  Appointments can be made by contacting April at 541—523-6415

In the John Day, Len’s Drug offers a year-round drop service at their pharmacy.  The Grant County Sheriff’s Office will not be participating in the National Take Back Day, but community members are encouraged to drop off any unwanted, expired or unused prescription to Len’s Drug during regular business hours. The Hines Police Department as well as the Burns Police Department, where both contacted and at that time there were no event planned by either department.
