BAKER CITY – No injuries were reported in a home fire on Highway 30 earlier this week between Pocahontas and Wingville. According to Fire Chief Sean Lee, “the fire was contained to the attic space of the house. It did significate damage to the roof and attic, as well as water damage from the suppression efforts.”
The fire was called in by someone passing by as no one was home at the time. No injuries were reported to residents, pets or firefighters.
Chief Lee said that Haines and Baker City responded for automatic aid to Baker Rural to assist with the fire.
There were eleven firefighters total from all three agencies. They were able to get the roof opened up and were able to quickly stop the fire before it could spread farther.
