(Press Release from Baker City Fire & Rescue Station 24)

On Thursday, January 23rd at 6:00pm, Baker City Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Miller Ave in Baker City. 2431-Engine was the first unit to go enroute and requested a General Alarm. 2431 arrived on scene and immediately stretched 1-3/4 and 2 1/2 attack lines for defensive attack due to heavy fire involvement, secured a water supply and protected Delta side exposure. Next in apparatus was 2451- Ladder Truck. They established water supply and protected bravo side exposure along with putting water on the fire with the Aerial Ladder. Multiple other apparatus then arrived with more manpower and equipment from BCFD and Baker Rural Fire District. A natural gas meter fire on the Delta side was closely monitored and confined to this single structure. Cascade Natural Gas responded and clamped the line feeding the gas meter, resulting in the fire then being contained.

No injuries were reported.

Cause of the fire is still under investigation.

We would like to thank Deputies and Dispatchers from Baker County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Baker City Police Department, Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative, Cascade Natural Gas, Baker Rural Fire Rescue, Keating Fire, for their assistance as well.
