ISLAND CITY- First responders successfully extricated two individuals following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 237 and Pierce Road late last week.
Emergency crews arrived on the scene within minutes after the crash, which left one of the vehicles involved resting on its side. Rescuers worked quickly to free the two trapped occupants. In total, three patients involved in the accident, all of which were evaluated at the scene and declined medical transport.
It was noted from La Grande Rural Fire Protection District that, “ We had crews on the way within minutes thanks to the Wildfire Staffing Grant from Oregon State Fire Marshal, which allows us to staff the station during fire season. We’re grateful it wasn’t worse and for the teamwork of all involved.”
First responders expressed gratitude that the outcome was not more severe and praised the seamless teamwork between all assisting agencies.
