GRANT COUNTY – According to information from Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley, on Tuesday night at approximately 6:15 pm, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash on US 395C near mile post 15 on Starr Ridge.

Sheriff McKinley wrote, “Investigation found that James Garrett, 48, of Riverside California was north bound negotiating a curve and started sliding as he met an oncoming ODOT snowplow. The plow, operated by Todd Smith of John Day, was maneuvered to go around Garrett, but the 2016 Ford crew cab, struck the front corner of the snowplow blade, and then continued down the driver side of the Volvo snowplow. This caused extensive damage to both vehicles. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles would need towed from the area. The highway was closed to one lane for two hours. Conditions were upgraded to chains required during this event.”
