WASHINGTON, District of Columbia – More than 30 members of Congress have tested positive or are presumed to have the novel coronavirus. The latest to announce the results is Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Sunnyside).
Newhouse announced the positive test result on Twitter.
“I began to feel a little run down yesterday, so I took a COVID-19 test,” he tweeted Wednesday. “Last night, the results came back positive for the virus.”
Newhouse said he is quarantining at home and is experiencing mild symptoms as he continues to work virtually. The members of Congress testing positive for the virus include 20 Republicans and 11 Democrats. Newhouse is the first of the Washington delegation to contract COVID-19.
