HERMISTON – The Hermiston City Council is scheduled to vote on creating the North Hermiston Urban Renewal Area at its meeting at 7 p.m. today (Monday). The district would be between Elm Avenue and Theater Lane.

“The underlying reasoning for the North Hermiston Urban Renewal Area is to address blighted lots, encourage redevelopment, alleviate congestion on North First Street (Highway 395), and improve water infrastructure,” the staff report for the ordinance states.

A major partition for Amazon Data Services on East Penney Avenue, and annexing less than an acre of land at 910 W. Angus Ave. into the city are also on the agenda.

The meeting is in Council Chambers at Hermiston City Hall. It is also streamed on Hermiston’s YouTube channel. It can be accessed at Zoom using meeting ID 862 2614 4112, pass code 203345. Comments may also be submitted in writing to meetings@hermiston.or.us.
