HERMISTON – There isn’t much for Oregon educators to celebrate during a pandemic, but there is a bright spot in Hermiston. Progress continues on projects funded by the $82.7 million bond that was passed by voters in 2019.

“We are getting ready to go out to bid on both the Rocky heights Elementary and Loma Vista Elementary sites, and we’re starting the design work on the high school annex,” Superintendent Tricia Mooney said.

Mooney said the softball complex at the high school is also well underway. She said she’s looking forward to buildings going up for the younger learners as well.

“Once we get the groundbreaking for those elementary buildings is when it’s going to get exciting and we’ll see a lot of movement.” She said. “It’s nice to see that momentum still happening in the community moving toward having our buildings ready when we get students back, because they will be back and we’re really looking forward to that.”
