LA GRANDE – (Release from La Grande Parks and Recreation) The City of La Grande Parks & Recreation Department is seeking public input on the playground replacement at Riverside Park. Their Facebook post reads: “We need your help picking the next playground design for Riverside Park! That’s right, the current playground is 20 years old already, can you believe it!? And needs to be replaced soon. Take a look and take 2 minutes to vote on your favorite. Deadline – June 23rd.”

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: A volunteer committee of about 20 community members has been working on this project since February and finalized a theme called “Magic Forest.”  They have been working with City staff to solicit designs from several playground vendors and these were the final three choices the committee recommended.

UP NEXT:  City staff will keep the online survey open until June 23rd, but will also reach out to schools and other local groups to gather input.  There will be an open house in June to share these designs in person too, date TBD.  After a final design is chosen by the committee using the community’s input, a fundraising campaign will kick off with a goal of raising about half the cost that can be used for matching funds for grants.
