HERMISTON – Circular Action Alliance (CAA) and Sanitary Disposal announce the opening of a new RecycleOn Center in Hermiston. The center is located at Sanitary Disposal, 81144 N. Highway 395.

The center is part of Oregon’s modernized recycling system that aims to provide consistent, accessible recycling opportunities statewide. RecycleOn Centers give people a no-cost place to drop off eight materials that are not accepted in home or work recycling bins. The brands and companies that make those materials fund the centers.

This center plays an important role in supporting sustainable practices across Umatilla County and surrounding communities,” said Sanitary Disposal District Manager Kevin Miracle. “By using the RecycleOn Center, residents are directly contributing to a cleaner community and a more efficient recycling system.”

The eight materials that are currently not collected for recycling are (empty and dry):

  • Plastic bags and other stretchy plastics, like the wrapping around toilet paper
  • Plastic lids, from containers like yogurt, salsa and sour cream
  • Plastic caps, from containers like soymilk, glass jars and broth containers
  • Plastic package handles, such as six-pack drink carriers
  • Plastic buckets and pails
  • Shredded paper in a paper bag that is stapled or rolled shut
  • Aluminum foil and trays
  • Glass bottles and jars
