PENDLETON – Pendleton Patrol Officer Chase Addleman is being promoted to detective and will work exclusively on property crimes. Chief Chuck Byram said that Addleman’s new duties will go into effect Oct. 1.

“With staffing levels the way they are and Round-Up coming up I need to keep Officer Addleman in his current role until after Round-Up is over,” Byram said.

Byram said that Addleman will have an important job that should have a positive impact on quality of life in Pendleton.

“I really want a disruptor,” he said. “Somebody that could go out and target criminal activity within the city that occurs at all hours of the day at night. A lot of the nuisance crimes, a lot of the graffiti, car prowls, and things like that.”

Byram knows he’s asking a lot from one officer.

“This isn’t a Monday through Friday 9 to 5 job,” he said. “He will be out day and night. His family understands that. They are onboard. That’s another big thing with me. If the family’s not onboard with the change in lifestyle that he’s going to have right now, then that’s going to affect everybody.”
