PENDLETON – The Pendleton School Board will be asked at its next meeting to approve the recommendation to hire Angie Horton to be the new principal of Sunridge Middle School.

Horton attended Wallowa High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and business administration from Eastern Oregon University in 2001. She has also earned a master’s degree in special education, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Western Governor’s University in 2019 and 2022 respectively.

Horton is currently a principal in the Warrenton Hammond School District. In that district she has also held positions as vice principal, behavior support classroom teacher, and third grade teacher. Prior to her time in Warrenton, she was a child treatment specialist at the Grande Ronde Child Care Centre in La Grande, which has since closed.

Horton will officially take over as principal on July 1. She is replacing current principal Piper Kelm, who is retiring effective June 30.
