New pool expected to be ready to swim in 2023

JOHN DAY – The John Day City Council met last night, and a public hearing was held regarding the new swimming pool going in at 7th street. The John Day planning commission approved the design for the 25-yard, six-lane outdoor pool at the 7th Street Sports Complex as submitted by the John Day Canyon City Parks and Recreation District. City Manager Green said if all goes to plan, we’ll be swimming in 2023:

“If we pull the trigger on the line of credit, we’d go into construction immediately. It would be built next year, and it would open for the 2023 swim season.”

There will be a community survey on the new pool soon. We’ll keep you updated.
