New phone scam emerges in Grant County

GRANT COUNTY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley announced that a new phone scam has been reported in Grant County. The caller claims to represent the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency or DEA. The scam artist claims that a package of drugs addressed to you has been intercepted and that they need your personal information for their investigation.

Sheriff McKinley reiterates that you should never give out personal information over the phone no matter who the caller claims to represent. Currently the scammers are calling phone numbers starting with 6-2-0, but may move on to other prefixes.
