MILTON-FREEWATER – The last drive-in movie theater in Eastern Oregon will keep the films rolling with new owners. Mike and Lorie Spiess announced on Facebook that they are selling the facility to Andrew and Stephanie Brown after 65 years of Spiess-family ownership. The sale was made official on May 26.
“The Brown family has generational roots in Milton-Freewater,” the post states. “Their children Katie, Addie, and Kooper have all formerly or are currently employed at the drive in. We are confident the Browns will carry on the tradition of community that is so important to the drive in experience.”
The final day of ownership for the Spiess family will be June 30. The Brown family takes over on July 1.
The Spiess family is planning a farewell event to welcome the Brown family the weekend of June 26-27. Follow the Milton-Freewater Drive In Theater on Facebook where details will be released as the end comes near.
