HERMISTON – The public is invited to attend the work session of the Hermiston City Council at 6 p.m. today (Monday). A meet-and-greet reception is planned to both thank the outgoing mayor and council members and welcome the newly elected officials.
At the end of the regular council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m., the oath of office will be administered to Municipal Court Judge Cameron Bendixsen, Mayor Doug Primmer, and at-large council members Jeff Kelso, Maria Duron, Josh Roberts, and Allen Hayward.
During the regular meeting, the council will hold a public hearing and take possible action on renaming a portion of Northeast Hill View Drive to East Holt Avenue. The council will also vote on authorizing city staff to begin proceedings that would adjust the franchise fee structure with PacifiCorp; and on adopting Hermiston Energy Services’ policies, rates, and fees manual.
The council could also take action on a draft safety plan for improving traffic safety. The report was prepared by the city’s technical advisory committee with guidance from Kittleson & Associates of Portland. The initial goal of the plan is to reduce fatal and serious-injury accidents by 50 percent by 2045. The project is funded with a grant from the Federal Highway Administration.
The work session and meeting will be held in council chambers of Hermiston City Hall. It can be streamed on Hermiston’s YouTube channel.
