COLLEGE PLACE – Construction is wrapping up at the new Goodwill at 1017 NE C St., in College Place. The new location will open Aug. 18 at 9 a.m.
It features a 20,000-square-foot retail store and is also home to the 3,000-square-foot Employment Connection Center, which is a free, walk-in job search assistance program. Staff there will help people create resumes, prepare for interviews, and gain access to community resources and other information.
The center will also provide access to a computer lab, computer tutorials, skills assessments, and internet job-search services designed to improve job-seeking skills to help members of the community get a job.
“We are really excited to become a part of College Place,” Senior Manager of Special Projects Marcy Wasney said.
Wasney said Goodwill’s new building in College Place will employ 35 people. The new site also provides greater access to parking and makes donating to Goodwill easier as the public won’t have to navigate a narrow alley as it does in Walla Walla.
With the opening of the College Place location, the Goodwill location at 217 East Alder Street in Walla Walla will permanently close on Aug. 17. That same day, the public is invited to attend a ribbon cutting and facility tour of the new College Place location at 11 a.m.
