Harney County-With Red Flag Warnings that hit Harney County over the Labor Day weekend, residents wondered if new fires would start.
As of Monday, it was reported that the Solomon Fire, located in Solomon Canyon on the South Steens Mountain has burned more than 250 acres and burning in the wilderness study area. There are resources on scene.
Also, reported Monday was the Sagehen Fire. The Sagehen Fire is located 4 miles northeast of Sagehen Rest Area. The fire has burned more than 100 acres. Engines and dozers are working their way in, but access is rough, rocky and miles from the road. Many resources are assigned to the fire.
There were some smaller incidents being prioritized and staffed as resources become available. 2 miles southeast of South Steens Campground, 11 miles northwest of Drewsey, this fire is being handled by the local RFPS, 4 miles northwest of Burns on Skull Creek Rd (this fire is contained) and 2 miles northwest of Bald Butte (this fire is also contained).
