NORTH POWDER – The North Powder Rural Fire Protection District completed a new two-story fire station. The building four times bigger than the old one can now house all of the firefighting equipment. The new structure will have a training and office space. According to Fire Chief Colby Thompson, the cost was over $1 million, half paid by a grant and the remainder of the cost from the City of North Powders reserve fund and from a small loan.
The new two-story building is located near the old station on 2-acres. The second floor will provide enough space for recreational activities.
Last month an open house of the new fire station was held with many from all around participating in the event.
