UNION, OR – The Union City Council accepted the resignation of Fire Chief Tod Hull after 30 years of dedicated service, during Monday night’s meeting.  His full-time job is changing and will take him out of Union for long periods and therefore will be unable to effectively remain as fire chief.  He will remain a member of the fire department and participate when in town.  Replacing Tod as Fire Chief is Casey George with 4 years as a Fire Cadet in high school and 18 years as a fireman with the Union City and Rural Fire Department.  Casey was strongly supported by the volunteers and had the full recommendation from former Chief Hull.

Also, Council members heard presentations from Anderson and Perry with regards to a new intake screen at the Wastewater treatment plant.  It was decided to upgrade the facility with a drum screen as an add-on to the current facility and replace a 20-year-old screw screen.  Council authorized the City Administrator to act as its agent in facilitating this new purchase and installation within its $325,000 budget.
