New evacuation areas and levels in Harney County

HARNEY COUNTY-With the increasing containment of the Falls Fire 2024, we hoped to lower evacuation levels in some areas. Instead, the Harney County Sheriffโ€™s Office with collaboration from Incident Command, Emergency Management and fire personnel, are extending evacuation levels due to the new, Telephone Fire in the King Mountain area. This fire has grown rapidly, fanned by erratic winds.

o Extending LEVEL 3 for everything east of Highway 395 to Buck Butte and south to Highway 20

Emergency alerts have already been sent out for this new Level 3 area. Sheriff Jenkins, HCSO deputies, and fire personnel are also making notifications.
