LA GRANDE – The City of La Grande is pleased to announce the hiring of Timothy Bishop as the new Economic Development Director. Timothy has served as the Tourism Marketing Director for Baker County for the last 11 years.

Previously, Bishop worked as a Main Street Program Manager for nearly 20 years overseeing the economic revitalization of several downtowns in the region including Walla Walla and Ellensburg, Washington and the initial revitalization efforts in Baker City in the early 1990’s. Timothy is excited about the new position and sees many similarities between La Grande and other communities he has helped revitalize.

“As a small college town in Eastern Oregon with an emerging tourism industry, La Grande feels very similar to other communities that I’ve worked in like Ellensburg and Walla Walla.” “I’m excited to join the economic development team and am looking forward to helping the City of La Grande develop a stronger and more resilient local economy as we work through the post COVID recovery.”

Timothy will continue in his current position with Baker County Tourism through October 15th and is scheduled to start the new position with the City of La Grande on October 21st
