WALLA WALLA – The Walla Walla Department of Public Works has announced the contractor, Nelson Construction, plans to open the new bridge at the intersection of Rose Street and Third Avenue by the end of business today (Friday).
Crews may still need to perform additional work outside the roadway after the bridge opens, which might require them to temporarily occupy the roadway.
Construction on the $4.1 million project began May 24. In October, the contractor poured 1,100 cubic yards of concrete in a single pour, all in one day, for the new bridge deck.
The project replaced a structurally deficient bridge and included improvements to stormwater and pedestrian safety enhancements.
