National commercial shoot to close select Walla Walla streets this week

WALLA WALLA — A national commercial production team will arrive in the Walla Walla Valley this week to film a television advertisement for Firestone Tires, prompting a series of temporary street closures in the city’s downtown and historic park districts.

The project marks a major milestone for Film Walla Walla Valley, an economic initiative of the Walla Walla Valley Chamber of Commerce. The production will bring more than 75 cast and crew members to the area, boosting the local economy through hotel bookings, catering, and retail purchases. Drivers and residents should prepare for significant traffic disruptions on Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, downtown closures will take place in stages. Main Street between Second Avenue and Colville Street will close from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m.. Later in the day, Main Street between Second and Third avenues will close from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., while Second Avenue will be shut down between Rose and Alder streets from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m..

Filming will shift to the area surrounding Pioneer Park on Thursday. Division Street, spanning from Pleasant Street to Alder Street, and Sasayama Drive, between Alder and Whitman streets, will both be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

City officials noted that parking will be strictly prohibited along the Thursday production route, and any vehicles remaining on those streets must be relocated prior to the 7 a.m. filming window.
