ENTERPRISE – Wallowa County Commissioner Todd Nash, who also serves as president of the Oregon Cattlemen’s Association, announced today that he will run for the District 29 seat in the Oregon Senate. Sen. Bill Hansell (R-Athena) announced earlier this month that he is not seeking reelection.
Nash will seek the Republican nomination in the 2024 primary election. He said he will carry on Hansell’s work.
“Eastern Oregon has been well represented by Sen. Hansell and I intend to carry on that tradition to give rural Oregonians a voice in the legislature,” Nash said. “There are a multitude of issues that need to be addressed and challenges that need to be tackled that will require experienced leadership in natural resources, economic development, and community-based issues if we are going to ensure rural Oregonians have the representation they deserve.
Nash has resided in Enterprise since 1968. He was elected to the Wallowa County Board of Commissioners in 2016 and has served as president of the cattlemen’s association since 2021. He is also active in the Oregon Association of Counties and the National Association of Counties. Nash will file for the seat in September. He has already opened a political action committee, developed an exploratory committee, and hired an Oregon campaign management firm.
