WALLA WALLA – Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney Jim Nagle has announced he plans to retire effective December 31. He will not be seeking another term.
On the day he retires, Nagle will have completed 34 years with Walla Walla County. He took office on January 1, 1989. Prior to becoming the county’s lead prosecutor, Nagle was in private practice from 1979 to February 1985, and deputy prosecutor for four years from February 1985 to the end of 1988.
“The previous prosecuting attorney, Donald Schact, was elected as superior court judge in 1988, so I was appointed to fill the two years in his term,” he said.
Nagle will continue to keep himself busy in retirement.
“I have a lot of maintenance to get done on the house,” he adds.
Walla Walla County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Gabriel Acosta has announced his plans to run for Nagle’s position in this year’s election. Acosta has been a deputy prosecutor and the chief deputy prosecuting attorney since 1987, except for two brief periods in 1990 and 1996.
