Murder/suicide occurred on Whitehorse Ranch Lane in Harney County

HARNEY COUNTY – Update as of 9:30am:  The Harney County Sheriff’s Office says this is an open and ongoing investigation.  Additional information will be released as it becomes available, which is likely to be in the next couple of days according to officials.

Posted April 23, 2024 at 5:50am- HARNEY COUNTY – (Released by the Harney County Sheriff’s Office)-In the early morning hours of Sunday, April 21, 2024, Harney County Sheriff’s Office responded to Whitehorse Ranch Lane in remote Harney County, Oregon after receiving reports of a shooting.

When deputies arrived at the scene, evidence indicated that a murder/suicide had occurred. Deputies located 2 deceased adults, 1 injured child, and 1 uninjured child. The injured child was transported by Harney EMS to meet Life Flight, then to a hospital where they were treated and are in recovery.

The family involved had been camping in the area and are from out-of-state.
