Mulvihill: Schools are not spreaders

PENDLETON – InterMountain Education Service District serves 18 school districts in Umatilla, Morrow, and Union counties, and most of those districts are returning students to their classrooms to one degree or another.
“We’ve had 13 of the 18 open for quite a while now, safely,” he said. “We have not had a major spread event and some of the schools have been open since August.”
Mulvihill said IMESD’s experience has been backed up by scientific research over the past year.
“Schools are not spreaders,” he said. “They’re not locations where spread occurs, especially if you’ll use what we’re all familiar with: personal protective equipment, the distancing and the masks.”
