Multiple incidents Wednesday kept first responders busy

JOHN DAY – Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley was on KJDY’s Coffee Time Thursday morning and made mention that his department has been increasingly busy lately. The Sheriff gave an example of incidents from the previous night that that had emergency resources spread thin:

“…a multi-individual fight at the Elkhorn [Apartments], and then during that same time they’re getting all the 9-1-1 calls up at the Grant County Emergency Communications Center, a motorcycle deer here near town with light injuries. So, you start getting multiple calls come in to a single call-taker, and it makes it pretty busy for them and the responding units.”

Sheriff McKinley said the individual that was a suspect in the assault incident was “taken into custody rapidly.” Names have not been released.
